not only is it hilarious – it illustrates one of my major concerns with the digital environment, namely its unreliability and lack of substance. for a library spending money to procure digital collections, the problem of ownership involves not just patrons and patterns of usage, not just librarians out to provide the best to those they serve, not just library directors and not just governing bodies that accredit academic institutions. publishers. vendors. i-entrepreneurs. who is really driving this huge push and who has the most to gain?
